It was like in Bajaga’s song about pearls scattered around the world. Alumni Club Day, April 5th selected for the new holiday. The university will nurture forms of ongoing connection with its alumni, career-confirmed people
Megatrend University’s relatively short but dynamic history – spanning three decades – has a new important date: April 5th.
Each day will be a holiday dedicated to meeting members of our newly formed Alumni Club, which brings together alumni, former faculty and friends of the University.
The ancient idea of a regular gathering of our alumni was embodied on Friday, April 5, 2019, at a meeting at the Megatrend University Club on Marshal Tolbuhin Boulevard 8, New Belgrade.
Welcoming the first members of the Club – our former students working today across Serbia, across the Yugoslav space and at different points in the planet – Rector, Prof. Miodrag Jevtic, PhD, expressed his belief that this address will remain an intersection of ideas that are not only dedicated to preserving the memories of the student days, but also a place where different ideas about the future progress of the University, as well as the entire social community, will be crossed, presented and verified.
“Most of our alumni have confirmed themselves in practice, relying on their energy, but also on the knowledge gained at one of Megatrend’s faculties,” said Prof. Jevtic. “This confirms the validity of our study programs, which are constantly being innovated and enriched with new experiences, among others yours. Since its founding, Megatend has nurtured a good balance of theoretical insights and practical exercises, which has helped our graduates to win prestigious positions in reputable companies and institutions, not only in Serbia and the region, but also abroad. Your references help to enhance the image of our country and its higher education, but also contribute to the reputation of Megatrend University, whose degrees are recognized worldwide without nostrification. Thank you for your future work to help affirm Megatrend University and help reduce or completely suppress stereotypes about us and private education as a whole. You, as “pearls scattered around the world”, are proof that private universities can create the conditions for creative energy and a fruitful career in many different fields, and even that this type of education has some advantages over others – because of modernity their programs, because of their resilience and willingness to change, because of their openness to critical remarks and their continued willingness to self-question, check and improve on the go.
Thanks on behalf of the first group of alumni, “Vecernje Novosti” journalist Nedeljko Iljukic, who graduated from the Faculty of Culture and Media at the time, said that the invitation to the University had infuriated many former students and that most wanted to come to this academic environment with undisguised joy. “The knowledge we have gained here has helped us to get a job relatively easily, maintain our positions and make steady progress,” Iljukic said. “I know and occasionally meet my former classmates, but it is even more appropriate for Megatrend’s Alumni Club to be an address where we will meet regularly and exchange memories and views. Now that we ourselves have different practical experiences, we can be of real benefit to the student population entering academic life. In any case, ideas should go both ways, and the Alumni Club is a happily crafted form for fruitful intergenerational meetings and conversations. ”
