The Independent Police Union of the Republic of Serbia has signed an agreement with Megatrend University on long-term educational and scientific cooperation, which envisages numerous forms of education of members of the Ministry of the Interior at one of the 12 accredited faculties of this higher education institution.
“Modern police need skilled and educated staff, and our cooperation with Megatrend so far has shown a number of good sides to educational programs being implemented within Megatrend’s academic family,” Velimir Lukic, president of the Independent Police Union of the Republic of Serbia, said when signing the contract. According to Lukic, more than a thousand young people who have been educated on Megatrend now work in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and in various security jobs.
Rector of Megatrend, prof. Mica Jovanovic, PhD, noted that MUP members are among the most eligible students, to regularly attend lectures and exercises, and to show solid knowledge in exams and in practice.
The University allows members of the Independent Police Union to be educated on more favorable financial and technical terms; the terms of the exercises and the consultation are adjusted to the work responsibilities of the police officers, the tuition fee is reduced by half, and there is a possibility of payment in installments.
“Our twelve faculties, with about 60 study programs, are studying a range of disciplines that are necessary for police officers and people in the security sector,” said Professor Jovanovic, recalling that the announced benefits also apply to members of the Interior Ministry’s members of the Independent Trade Union.
